“TRADITIONAL CULTURES IN PNG ARE DYING”

The cultures of Papua New Guinea is too diverse and complex. It is estimated that PNG has more than 8000 different cultural groups, and most groups have their own language and speak respectively according to where they belong.

Papua New Guinea is spontaneously blessed with varieties of rare species, beautiful geographical land mass and most profoundly with its (Diverse Cultures) when distinguished with other Countries in the World. Because of this diversity, many different styles of cultural expressions have emerged; which resulted in creating its own expressive forms in art, dance, customs, singing, contemporary music and more to unify the Nation’s 835 languages. It is norm to every indigenous of this beautiful country called PNG and we don’t have to deny that fact.

Moreover, the transitions from traditional cultures to modern cultures have already taken its shapes and the probability of loosing PNG’s Traditional Cultures are nearly 85%. When looking at today’s generational perspectives, most of the young generation are extremely being manipulated by so called Social Media and they are already being victimised. As a result, it brings serious problems to the traditional cultures of Papua New Guinea.
As we can see, alot of people especially the young generation are reluctant to do take part in their own cultures as they are already being victimised by global advancement. And soon or later, PNG will gradually loose its traditional cultures and traditions.

From what I have observed so far, young people have already loss hope to upheld their own cultures. For instance, in NCD, most of the Primary school students are addicted to Facebook, twister, Instagram and other media platforms which they don’t suppose to.

What is a appropriate answer to revive our Traditional Cultures?
The acceptable answer is we must educate the young generation about their traditional cultural of PNG and Melanesia.
