Victor Yeimo says West Papuans should not stop demanding a legitimate self-determination process. He and other activists have been detained by the Indonesia security forces.

Presiden Joko Widodo has ordered a crackdown on West Papua and continues to deploy more Indonesian military personnel to the area.

The Pacific is calling on the Indonesia Government:

• To stop its acts of terrorism in West Papua.
• To stop militarizing West Papua.
• To stop the military deployment.
• To stop the violence and human rights abuse.
• To allow a fact-finding mission into West Papua.

The United Nations and UN Human Rights Council must intervene and safeguard the human rights of West Papuans and conduct a fact-finding mission.
